Oh look, another art thread. As if I'm hoping to get something that's not blind praise. >_>

But anyway. These aren't pokemon sprite edits, but actual scratched sprites. I was bored and kind of in the spriting mood, so I decided to do a sprite of the supposed Tsutaja +2. I didn't like it much while I was making it, but I ended up spending over an hour on it, so trashing it wasn't an option. >.>

Spoiler:

Everything is scratch except for the pose. And please don't complain about the unoriginal pose... For one thing, I'm terrible at posing things, and for another thing, quite a bit of pokemon, old and new, have similar posings to their official art. Such as the Hoenn Flygon sprite, and actually most of what's been revealed for the new generation.

I'll definitely be making more of fifth generation, but probably not for pokemon that already have sprites, just because I'll be paranoid that it's not good enough compared to that sprite.

If you've read nothing of the above, then please at least read this. If you're going to comment on this, please don't just spout blind praise. It's a nice self-esteem booster, yes, but it doesn't help me improve. If you do like it, then please tell me what you like about it, and how I could improve. If you don't like it, then tell me what you don't like about it, and how I could improve. Constructive criticism only, please.

Kay, that's it.

as i said earlier, it looks good ^-^

since you want it, i'll try to add some input for things~
maybe you should have more black on the outline? like looking at the official sprites, they have more black on the outlines in places where it should go~ somebody once suggested that to me and now that i do it, things look better :3 hope that helps~

It's great, but just a few things.

1. The grass triangle on the tail is a little iffy, it could use some work, improving the straightness and lines and shapes
2. The curl on the neck is a little flat, make it a little more curved.
3. Like Griffin said, thicken black outlines.

Overall, it looks nice.

But, like Griffin said, use more black outlines.
And like Meap said, the little triangles on the tail look off.

Sorry. ;O;

Please don't apologise. >_>

As for black outlines, I don't like them. The only place where they wouldn't look completely terrible is on the main body, but the darkest is already almost black. The official sprites don't always have black on them, and like I said, I don't like black. >.>

@Meap: I agree with you there that the curve could be a bit curvier? The triangles on the tail were hard cos the ref wasn't all that great:/.

Really like it! Usually I do just put 'blind praise' as you say, but since you ask for critique here it goes!

Usually, I use the 'curve line' tool in MS Paint or other image editing software, to make sure snake like bodies have a nice smooth flow. There is mainly one spot near the end of the tail where it looks slightly indented.

That's it Cool

Yeah there is a way. I think it's just making a 'brush path' then filling the path with whatever brush or line you want.

Much more complicated than MS paint, but it gives you more options.
