Which Move is better?????

So I was making a team with a pokemon that can learn Roar and Whirlwind.....

Both the moves have 20 PP and 100 accuracy neither inflict damage on the opponent,

Roar
Battle Effect:
The foe is scared off, to be replaced by another Pokémon in its party. In the wild, the battle ends.
Secondary Effect:
Ends battle. Switches the opponent Pokémon in a trainer battle.

Whirlwind
Battle Effect:
The foe is blown away, to be replaced by another Pokémon in its party. In the wild, the battle ends.
Secondary Effect:
Ends battle. Switches the opponent Pokémon in a trainer battle.


It doesn't seem like there is any difference.... What would you say????

Yeah, I believe there the same move, just diffrent name. I think they did that for the diffrent times, wouldnt make much since if a bird roared, so for them they called it whirlwind.

I think they can only be learned by certain Pokémon.

Like some Pokémon can learn Roar, and some Pokémon can learn Whirl wind, but probably not both. Just a guess.

they are exactly the same effect, just it wouldn't make much sense having a bird use roar(excluding skarmory) and a dog using whirlwind

Soundproof Pokemon do not get hit by Roar, so Whirlwind is more reliable.

That's actually what I was going to say. I doubt it's another reason, but with nintendo you never know.

Whirlwind, as roar can be blocked by soundproof.
