I just started using my DSi and so far it's been pretty good.
Pros (vs. DS lite):
-A less glossy shell: whenever I played games on my ds lite I would spend at least 30 minutes trying to clean smudges off of it, they just bugged me for some reason. The DSi, however, has yet to be smudged=D
-Internet: Our wi-fi used a security system too recent for the DS lite, and so I couldn't go online until today. While I probably could've solved this problem by changing the security settings or buying the usb adapter, It's too late now *derp-de-derp*
-Menu: The menu is much easier to navigate, as settings can be set much like they could on the wii, instead of having to follow vague images to find the options you wanted. On a side note, I just find it fun to slide through all my different apps and whatnot.
Cons:
-No gba slot: Of course I'd include this. How could I not? But my sp is still working so oh well.
-The camera: Why did they even add this feature? It's a bad camera, I wasn't expecting much, but the worst part is that there's nothing to cover the lens when it's not in use. The lens is exposed 24/7 for dust to cover and for grubby fingers to smudge. That's just poor design.
All and all it's just an upgrade from my somewhat dead ds lite with a few (mostly pointless/bad) bells and whistles. Goodnight
