May it be in school or elsewhere: how are you with public speaking?
For those of you who are comfortable, any tips to the rest of us? >_<

I just wanted to hear thoughts from other people on this since I have a group presentation tomorrow for research methods. I don't feel to nervous about it though. If I were going up by myself, it might be a different story...

Depends on the situation for me. If I'm in front of a bunch of classmates, I get nervous easily, but if I'm in front of a club with my friends, then I don't get nervous.

Depends on how many people. If there was like 100 or something I'd totally be nervous.

I have theatre class right now in school, as such we have to go up on stage and speak alot. At first I was somewhat nervous to get up there, for fear of being made fun of, but I eventually realized that no one would make fun of me if I messed up a little. Sure they may laugh when I flub up a line or something, but in about a day, no one will ever speak of it again.

besides, everyone messes up at one point, and your probably not the only one that's nervous. I always like to go first or be one of the first ones just to get it over with, and if I do mess up there will be more presentations after me so by the time its all over everyone will have forgotten about my mistakes. ^^

i get nervous myself but i guess the trick is to just relax not speak quickly. speak as if it were only your friends or family there. eye contact. clear voice no empty words (umm, ahh e.t.c) or just think no one is there. and dont worry if you mess up life was ment to have mistakes and mistakes were ment to happen in life. Very Happy

Apparently (acording to fellow students and my teachers) I am excellent at public speaking... though I get extremely nervous (legs shaking/red ears/sometimes my mind goes blank).

Mainly focus on:
Eye contacts
Voice range (not monotone...)
clear voice
stance
gestures

and stuff like that

I am the worst person ever to do a presentation. x.x

I always shake, I stumble, I turn red, and once I fell over my own foot and fell flat on my face. Neutral

But I still manage to get grade 2s and 1s for public speaking - so it's all good. ^^;

I do drama as well, so there is a lot of presenting our work to the class. I am fine with that, although I get made fun of because I take on all sorts of rolls. ;^;

Well I gave my presentation today with my group. I think it actually went well....

Our group seemed to know the most about our research when drilled with questions at the end.

Also, it seems like I'm nervous until I actually start talking. Then it's like...FINALLY I can just talk and explain what I need to explain.

I tend to speak in a monotone, in public or not. I've got a deep, almost robotic voice. Razz

Other than that, I can sometimes feel my face go red, which only makes me more nervous and makes it harder to focus on the presentation. Luckily, I have the ability to play it off with body language so I seem natural.
