Best Pokemon Hacks/ROMs?

I'm looking to start a new pokemon adventure.

It can be based on any region but I'd prefer if it had a variety of pokemon and a storyline of some sort.
Something with DS-relevant graphics please.

I've never really faithfully played through a ROM, so if you have any tips on getting through common bugs and such, I'd appreciate it.

So what are your favorite pokemon hacks and where can I find them?

Which emulator do you have?

I would guess the VBA?

Best pokemon hack I have ever played: Shiny Gold X. You can only get it at Pokecommunity though, and you need to be a member. Also be sure to look at the other hacks there.

Well Shiny gold is the legend, but perhaps you should try playing fangames made with RMXP too. I am making one of my own, it is an interesting experience. ^^

Shiny Gold is really good. I read a Let's Play on Pokemon Quartz (which was hilarious), but it's also an awful hack. Pokemon Emerald 386 is technically a hack, I think, but it's just basically you can catch all the Pokemon, including starters, except for Mantine for some odd reason. Chaos Black was never my favorite.

lol Chaos black uses too many fakemon that I wouldnt really know whether we should call it a Pokemon game. XD

Well actually the best Hack right now is apparently WesleyFG's Pokemon Light Platinum. I'd have to admit Shinygold is epic, but this is mostly because it was one of the oldest hacks and G/S/C remakes available and playable. Light Platinum is pretty much like a fan game, since it has so many features like flying on mini-map with your Pidgeotto. I'd strongly recommended you guys and gals to take a look at this hack. ^^

What's Light Platinum based on? It sounds interesting! :V

Well it seems to be based on FR/LG, but it has a completely new storyline and it has custom scripts that make it look so unique. I may post a few screenies here if you are interested, do not contact the owner WesleyFG if you dont know him though, he is Brazilian so he may not understand you at times.

and there might have been one or two more. Unfortunately all of them mysteriously stopped working being claimed as unsupported file types, this was on my old laptop. On this one, I recently discovered my patching did not work. The patch won't show up despite being told it was successful. I wish I knew what was wrong. If anyone else possible knows I would be appreciative.
