Can someone teach me competitive battling?

I really want to learn competitive battling. I've tried online guides, but they don't really work for me. Can someone be my teacher? I am thinking that we could meet on PO once a week and whoever is my teacher can rate my team, and, well, teach me.

Ah, well if you're trying to get into competitive battling, the main thing you need to know is how EVs work. Have you found anything about them yet?

Not just EVs, but also IVs and understanding that Competitive is way different than in-game battling, such as using Smeargle over Pidgeot any why it is so. Learning the different jobs of each Pokemon is also handy.

yes, EVs and IVs play an important thing about Competitive Battling, but Abilities, Items and what moves you choose to use are just as important. I could teach you too GoldenRod ^^ It'll be fun~

You could learn something from all the gym leaders/elites ^_^ Maybe during the PO Saturday tournaments some of them will have some time to help you out?
