Zoe Mc Eldrey was small, green-eyes, blond hair and very curious of a lot of things. This is her battle against her childhood friend, Jake, outside a forest. Unfortunately, their battle ends with a bang...
"Zoe Mc Eldery?" came a voice from behind the girl. A boy's voice, one she knew so well she didn't even have to turn around to check who it was. Tall, thin, brown-hair, green eyed...
"Jake Gildroy?" Zoe murmered.
"Hell, yeah! Long time no battle!" Jake grinned. Zoe could guess what was coming. They were (obviously) going to go out of the Pokemon Center, and out to the battle field beside the forest.
"Awww, now?" Zoe said sarcastically. Padfoot, her Vaporeon, got up and tailed her across the Pokemon Center. Jake pushed open the glass doors out to the battlefield. The sun was bright, not a cloud in the sky.
"So, you ready?" Jake asked as he stepped over to the other side of the battle field.
"Bring it, shortie."
"HEY, I'M-!"
"Padfoot, take the stage!" Zoe called her Vaporeon out. Unlike any normal Vaporeon, Padfoot was the colour of a shiny Glaceon. Jake flicked open a pokeball, releasing his Dragonair, Kayla.
When Zoe had last seen Kayla, she was a newly hatched Dratni. Obviously, Jake and Kayla had been training. Which meant that Kayla was probally at a high level..
"Kayla, center stage! Use Hydro Pump!"
"Tut tut, Jake- have you not done your homework?"
"What homework..?"
"Padfoot, absorb that Hydro Pump!"
"Ahhh, dang it. Kayla, use Agility!"
"Focus, Padfoot- don't panic." Zoe called out to her Vaporeon. Kayla was dancing quickly around Padfoot, faster and faster. Soon, Kayla was a blur, and Padfoot was confused.
"Kayla, Iron Tail! Then use Swift!"
"DANG IT, PADFOOT!"
"Vap... Vapa.." Padfoot moaned. He was curled in a ball on the ground, the falling stars pounding off his soft scales, leaving deep, red marks.
"PADFOOT, LOOK OUT!"
"Vapaa..?" The Vaporeon was flung across the battle field by Kayla's tail.
"Vapa. VAPA." Padfoot growled, then roared with fury. He leapt up off the ground and bounded towards the Dragonair.
"Dra-gon-air?" Kayla was hit dead on by a killer Iron Tail. Kayla's body dug into the dirt as she was flung to the opposing side of the battle field.
"KAYLA, GET UP!" Jake cried out helplessly to his weak Dragonair.
"Padfoot, finish it with Ice Beam, then Iron Tail!"
The display was beautiful. Shimmering shards of ice fell from the sky when Padfoot smashed the frozen water. Kayla lay, totally exhausted, at the edge of the battle field.
"Dang it, that was close!" Zoe grinned to Jake. She and Padfoot approached the Dragonair and Jake. Jake grinned back.
"Definately. Next time, though, you would be so lucky!" he laughed, "I said that last time, too."
"Oh honestly, Jake, that's like my third time ever to beat you..!"
"I know, it was-"
BANG!
"What the HELL?!" Zoe muttered to herself. The noise came from the forest, and there was a little bit of smoke not far in.
"C'mon, Jake. We have to find out what's going on!"
There was a big metal thing in a small crater at the edge of the forest. It was black with soot and glowing.
With a loud "BANG!" a small mound appeared behind the metal thing. It was no other than Jake's cousin, Kit- tall, thin, chocolate-brown hair, green eyes...
"WHAT THE HELL?! Kit, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Jake roared, "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"
"Calm down, Jakie," Kit replied, "it's my Metwind, Gale."
"Metwind WHAT?"
"It's a Pokemon, smart ass."
"Oh."
"Anyway, I need a nap.. That was a long, long journey from hoenn to johto.."
Then there was a "Eing ring!" from Kit's jacket. She tugged out her Poketech and clicked a button, then put it to her ear.
"Yup, just landed. Gale's worn out. We're taking a nap in the Pokemon Center. Yeah, sure. 'Kay. Bye, Professor."
"Professor who?"
"Professor Birch. He's making me fill my Pokedex. Oh, and Zoe, he wanted to give this to me to give to you."
Kit tugged out a little parcel wrapped in tattered, old leather.
"Open it."
Zoe did. Inside there was a thin, ancient book. She flicked through it delicately, feared incase it would fall apart in her hands.
"Wow." There were detailed drawings of Pokemon from Hoenn in it. There were a lot of Pikachus, Eevees and Gardevoirs in particular.
At the back, there were even more. A Celebi, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-oh and Manaphy.
"It was May's Grandma's, but they don't want it. They thought you'd like it though."
"Thanks, kit. If you see them, thank them for me, please?"
"Sure thing, Zoe," Kit smiled, "Oh, and you'd better go to the very back page."
Then Kit left the forest, followed by her silent, metal bird. Flicking quickly to the back, Zoe gapped furiously.
There was a picture of her, definately her (because it had "ZOE MC ELDERY" writted in big letters beside it. And... a boy, "JAKE GILDROY"...
"OH MY GOD." Jake said peering over Zoe's shoulder.
"KIT ELROY! GET BACK HERE NOW!"
"Kayla, hunt her DOWN.
"PADFOOT, EAT KIT."
Running (for Kayla, drifting) into the Pokemon Center, Jake, Zoe, Padfoot and Kayla spotted Kit grinning wickedly at them.
"Did you like it?"
"KIT!!!" Zoe shrieked. But she was laughing, too.
"KIT, I SWEAR TO GOD-!"
"Ah, fighting... The first sign of true love..."
"KIT...!!!"
"I don't know what you're talking about-"
"Nonsense. Besides," Kit said, "We can't all be nearly as ugly looking as Jake, or everybody would need tons of make-up."
Walking away from them, Kit waved back, her chocolate-brown curls cascading down her back as she walked.
