- Shell-shocked
What had I got myself into. All I wanted to do was search for the couple of missing Shellos that had left our herd, but here I was caught in a fast moving river. So maybe I shouldn’t have gotten lost in dark tunnels, found my bath blocked by a river, and tried to swim across, but I didn’t know it would be moving this fast! As the raging currents pushed me along, I screamed. Yeah, I would have liked to been braver, but I could have died! Suddenly, I slammed into a rock and screamed even louder, hoping somebody would find me. Closing my eyes, I felt the current pull me around the rock, but something grabbed my back. Confused, I opened my eyes and turned my head to see a Piplup holding on to me.
“Calm down! You‘ll be okay!” the Piplup yelled over the roar of the river.
“I’ll try!” I replied, sort of surprised at the nerve of the Piplup. From the bank of the river, two boys, one with a pikachu, and a girl in a way too short dress appeared running to a tree branch. They yelled something that I couldn’t quite make out and pushed down the branch. The pikachu ran down it.
“Grab my tail!” he hollered, lowering his tail to the water. I don’t know how we managed it, but the pikachu pulled us out. The next thing I knew, the tall guy set me down on the bank and I thanked him. Dress girl asked me if I was okay and I said yes, and then I thanked the Piplup.
“It was nothing,” he said. Before he could say anything else, a lady ran up. She said something about me, and then the tall guy started to flirt with her. I only kind of understand human, but I’m pretty good at figuring out what they say. From this, I learned that the lady’s name was Nurse Joy. All of a sudden, a Croagunk popped out and used poison jab on the tall guy. We all watched as he got dragged away. Nurse Joy started to talk about the history of Shellos. I didn’t care what she said, I still hated the blue Shellos’s guts. She then went on to say that pink Shellos had been showing up where I was. That explained the recent disappearances. After that, we headed to a pokemon center, me gladly following so they could make sure I was all right.
Nurse Joy checked me out in the back then brought me back to the front where the kids were. Setting me down on the counter, she proclaimed me to be in perfect condition. Piplup and skirt girl said they were glad I was okay. Gratefully, I exclaimed, “Me too!” The boy with the pikachu offered to take me back to my home. I was glad. It would be nice to have the extra help. Just then, a voiced called out. Turning around, I saw a man in a trench coat. Apparently, he knew the kids, and his name was Looker. While I was pondering his odd name, he suddenly left. That was fast, I thought.
It was finally our time to leave. “Are you ready?” Piplup asked.
“You bet!” I replied, eager to go home.
We found ourselves at Mt. Coronet with me riding on Piplup’s head, which was quite fun. Piplup suddenly sped up. “Hey look! There’s a hole here,” he exclaimed. Sure enough, we were standing at the edge of a huge hole in the ground. Piplup leaned over the edge, looking down. Suddenly, I started to slip off of Piplup’s head, and then I started to scream. While falling, Piplup tried to grab me, but he fell down too. We landed on the ground painfully, the kids following right behind us. The tall boy asked if we were all right, and I gave a weak yes as an answer. Discovering that we couldn’t climb out, we had to go through the tunnel that was adjoining the cavern we were in. When we got further in, Piplup and I discovered footprints. Seeing a tunnel that looked different, I proceeded to turn and stroll into it.
“Come on! What are you waiting for?” I called out, turning my head behind me. I kept on going until I came to a split in the tunnel. Seeing light on the left side, I ran inside, everyone else following me. When we got to the light, there were two guys, one with blue hair and the other with pink. There were also many people with weird outfits and bowl cut hair styles. They surrounded us and tied us up, none to gently either. After the blue haired guy said something, I started to cry. This day could not have been worse, after almost drowning, falling into a hole, and now being tied up, (which really hurt), I had to let it out somehow. Ignoring everybody, I cried and cried. One of the bowl cut guys picked me up. Surprisingly, he petted me and told me to calm down. He explained that he would get us out of here. I stopped crying and he set me down. Lost in my own thoughts, I completed ignored everything around me. I just want to go home!
Interrupting my thoughts, the nice bowl cut guy cut our restraints and revealed himself as Looker. All of the yelling that followed didn’t help much and I ran away, scared out of my mind. I ran until I just couldn’t take it anymore and started to bawl. The boy with the pikachu picked me up and reassured me that everything would be fine. That seemed to be so calming for some reason, so I quieted down again and he set me on top of Piplup’s head. From there I saw everything that was happening. Looker had beat up a bowl cut guy and was now on a ledge. A Toxicroak was pounding into the wall, and suddenly it broke away and revealed a ruin.
Everything else happened so fast, and I had no idea what was going on. The next thing I remembered, all the weird people were gone, and Looker was standing next to us. Tremors shook the cavern and I closed my eyes, knowing that whatever was coming would not be good. Water started to burst from the walls, creeping closer to us. Oh great, I thought, I am going to drown. The first time was luck. I gained hope when Looker miraculously produced an inflatable raft from his coat. We all jumped in and rode the river out of the mountain while screaming. When the water finally calmed, we all climbed out and gave our goodbyes to Looker. Searching for my herd, the tall boy realized that the tunnels I had gone into were now blocked. It may have too late for me, and the other lost Shellos, but I was glad that nobody else would have to go through the same horrible experience. Out of nowhere, all of my friends and my parents appeared, and I leaped off of Piplup’s head and ran over to them.
“I’m so glad to back!” I happily greeted my parents. I then turned and thanked the whole group that saved me for everything. After our goodbyes, I ran back to my herd, overjoyed that this disaster of a day was now over.

"Argh!" Skitty exclaimed. Today had gone horribly wrong. I have scared off a wild Snover, lost my lucky bell, and now this! How could the day get any better if Pikachu keeps arguing everytime I see him? I just can't convince him I AM right. Snowrunt does evolve into Froslass, I know I'm right and I’ll prove it. Maybe I should find a trainer or . If I evolved using this moon stone, no one would recognize me. *sigh* it would be for the best. Skitty tossed the moon stone over her back and walked on. She soon met with PIkachu. “I’ll ever agree to something ridicoulous.” He said, then bounded away. Skitty stomped furiously untill she heard a crying sound. She walked toward the sound. It was a little girl crying. She was sitting on a log in the middle of the forest. "Oh, what will I do?" The girl cried. "I just wanted to pick up this shiny bell. I didn't want to get lost." Skitty gasped. The glinting bell in the girl's hand was hers! Timidly, Skitty walked up to the girl. THe girl looked at her curiously. Then, driven by pity, Skitty leapt forward onto the girl's lap. The girl laughed. Skitty nudged the bell. "Oh, is this yours?" The girl asked. Skitty eagerly nodded. The girl smiled and tied the blue ribbon with the bell on it around Skitty's pink neck. Oh! my lucky bell! Returned! I should probably do something in return for this poor girl.skitty thought. She bounded forward, the girl following. They walked on until they reached the nearest town. There was a woman franticly searching for the girl. When she saw her, she bounded forward and hugged her. "Oh, how did you find your way out?" The mother asked. "That skitty led-" she started, pointing where Skitty had been. But Skitty had already left. She realized now her life was perfect just the way it was. She heard in satisfaction the gentle ringing of her bell as she curled up for a nap. Her mind drifted slowly as she dreamed that night.

- A Tale of Nidoran: White Sun, Black Moon
A crisp, clean taste pervaded the air. Droplets of cheerful morning dew slowly turned to mist as the sun rose closer to the peak of day. The trees rejoiced the sweet feel of the morning. Jubilant starly songs added to the peaceful atmosphere. Red, ripe cherry berries contrasted greatly from the clean, blue rawst berries on their adjacent bushes. The combined scent spicy, sweet, bitter, sour and dry berries gave the air an interestingly unique aroma that, if materially visible, would look like a tangy, calm, yet somehow sharp mixture of abstract colors.
With the sound of shuffling leaves, a small purple head, accompanied with a spiky body, popped out from the shadows of a small shrub and scuttled towards a bush bursting with pink, heart-shaped pecha berries that were at the peak of ripeness. The small male Nidoran leaped up and swiftly snapped up a perfect berry from near the top of the bush. It made quick work of the pecha berry, and then jumped up for another.
Suddenly, out of seemingly nowhere, a strong, fierce gust shoved itself through the dense foliage and trees with such power that the little Nidoran was sent flying through the air. It landed roughly against the trunk of a tree with a cry. Dark, evil storm clouds now possessed the previous clear blue sky. Sharp thunder followed in the trail of white lightning and the wind continued to scream fiercely as if it was running in terror. Nidoran lay clinging to the soil, shaking in absolute terror. What’s happening? Why is this happening? Is this the end? All these questions repeatedly swarmed through the little Nidoran’s mind. No more starlys sang.
Aside from the terror that Nidoran felt, he also felt very confused. How on earth did everything change so suddenly? There he was just minding his own business enjoying the great day, but then everything flipped in a matter of seconds! The little Nidoran just couldn’t fathom what had just happened.
From deep in the angry clouds, a whirling maelstrom began to form. Lightning crackled within the swirling thunder caps. The wind grew fiercer. In the heart of the maelstrom, a dark blotch began to form. With a terrible tearing sound, trees became airborne and were sucked towards the now gaping dark blotch. Nidoran stared wide-eyed at the enormous maelstrom.
A sudden, exceptionally strong gust caused Nidoran to lose its claw hold on the ground. The small Nidoran screamed as the air cements carried him towards the center of the maelstrom. The closer he got to the center blotch of the maelstrom, the faster the clouds whirled, and now he could make out a tightly packed and organized vertex. Could it be a portal to some other worldly dimension? Nidoran did not know, nor could he do anything to break free of the powerful current. The vortex was closing in. Up close it appeared to have a diameter of 100 yards- one hundred yards of pure spiraling darkness. A few seconds, and Nidoran plunged into pitch shadow.
All seemed to reverse and alter in the pitch. Nidoran could not see nor hear anything, but the vortex felt like an invisible inferno of chaos. Oddly enough, Nidoran was not completely terrified. In the distance, Nidoran saw a distant whitish light. Was the light getting closer, or just farther away? It was impossible to distinguish. Was it moving fast? Slow? Not at all? The mysterious dark vortex had confused all of the little Nidoran’s senses.
A sudden flare of white light blinded Nidoran. He felt tugging at his body, as if he was getting sucked into something. In a few seconds, the sensation disappeared. Through his closed eyelids, Nidoran could tell that the bright white light had faded. Slowly, Nidoran opened his eyes. What the little Nidoran saw made him stare wide-eyed in an awed shock. The vortex that had sucked him in was indeed a portal.
Gravity seemed non-existent in this odd world, for the small Nidoran found himself floating in mid-air with nothingness around him. Smokey black and white clouds danced on a chaotic, slow dance in the air. It looked as if this entire world compromised of those early beautiful clouds. Black static coursed through the clouds. Throughout the clouds, Nidoran glimpsed flashes of shiny black and white glass files forming and reforming into abstract figurative designs. Even though this world was beautiful to Nidoran’s eyes, he could feel and aura of unease and evil.
As the little Nidoran span around marveling at this strange world, something caught his eye. High above the Nidoran’s position hung a white sun. Sparkling white whips of flames revolved around it. The sight of the sun took Nidoran’s breath away. Knowing how unwise staring at a sun was, the little Nidoran looked away only to come to yet another shockingly beautiful sight.
About 100 degrees to the right hung a black crescent moon. Black electricity sparked across the entire surface of the onyx moon. Small sparks of red danced amongst the black electric currents. Both the white sun and the black moon gave out a slight pressure of tension.
In the distance, Nidoran heard a roar. It sounded as if it belonged to a great beast. Terror filled the little Nidoran once again. The first roar was then followed by another, different roar. Nidoran got the feeling that this was not a friendly matter.
Suddenly a red shot of flame violently whizzed towards Nidoran. He somehow manages to dodge it by inches. The heat of the flames was intense. From the direction that the stray attack had come from, the small Nidoran could see a large figure flying towards him. As the figure got closer, Nidoran could make it out as a Pokémon. A black Pokémon with red eyes. Judging by the distance, the Pokémon must have been huge.
In a flash, the black Pokémon swerved to the right and the small Nidoran caught a glimpse of a white beast, also a Pokémon, as it opened its maw and unleashed a great fire ball at where the black Pokémon had been just moments before- in Nidoran’s direction. Seeing the impending danger, the little Nidoran hurriedly used quick attack to dodge the fiery blast.
Now that the fireball was gone and the dragons were closer, Nidoran took a closer look at the white dragon. It had blue eyes. A sudden realization hit Nidoran. The two dragons matched the descriptions in a bedtime story his mommy and daddy read to him when he couldn’t sleep….. they were Reshiram and Zekrom. The little Nidoran’s eyes widened as the two continued racing in his direction. Neither of them seemed to have noticed the small Nidoran floating in their realm.
Now the fleeing Zekrom and the pursuing Reshiram were almost directly in front of the little Nidoran. Zekrom suddenly veered up and turned around. Reshiram stopped its pursuit. The little Nidoran cried out in terror as it realized what kind of situation he was in being directly between the two powerful dragons. Red electricity crackled around Zekrom and blue flames raced around Reshiram as both the dragons began charging up their attacks. Nidoran was frozen in place with terror.
Both beasts had finished charging. As one the raised their heads and released their strongest attacks. Nidoran saw his young life flash before his eyes. His heart beat like a taught drum running a million miles a second. He closed his eyes and prepared for the end. The end didn’t come.
Nidoran heard two consecutive explosions, one on either side and felt smoke curling around him. Slowly, the small Nidoran opened his eyes. To his left facing Zekrom stood the ghostly dark figure of Darkrai. To the right was Cresselia, shining with brilliance. The little Nidoran couldn’t believe what was happening. His inward smile faded as he lost consciousness.

- Hiya! I’m Izumi! I’m a pokemon. A Flareon to be exact. Today was the worst day in the history of bad days. I just hope something good happens to me tomorrow. Ugh. I’m so tired. Well here’s my story.
I woke up in the morning and checked the clock. Oh no! I thought I was supposed to meet Katashi hours ago! I sighed. I knew he probably didn’t like me that much anyways. Katashi is a Jolteon. His name describes him perfectly firm and hard. He’s the toughest Jolteon I’ve ever met but he’s soft and sweet on the inside. Like one of those hard candies that taste wonderful and are filled with even more delicious candy on the inside. Oh well I thought. All I had left for breakfast was a slice of bread but when I tried to toast it I burnt it. The other night I had left the butter sitting out and it melted so I had to clean that up. I ran into the sliding glass door and bruised my forehead. I had to stay home and hold a pack of ice to my head until the swelling went down. I went to the store to go shopping but left my POKE at home and had to put everything back. I went home got my POKE and went to the bank to be sure I’d have enough. Only one cash register was open so I waited in line for thirty minutes. Then I finally got to the checkout but the cashier had slipped and cracked his head. I feel sorry for that poor Raticate. They sent for another cashier who took forever to get there. We had to go to a different cash register. A bunch of pokemon skipped me so I waited fifteen minutes until I got to the cash register. The register froze and they had to reset it and try again it worked the second time and I took my stuff home. I noticed a note from my parents on the fridge. It said they were visiting my sick grandma. I put the groceries in the fridge and looked at the clock. Because of all the problems I had gone through I was going to be late for work. I ran but still ended up being twenty minutes late for work. I bought a sandwhich and ate it on the way to work. They got my order wrong and it tasted pretty gross but I was in too much of a hurry. While I ran I passed by Katashi the jolteon. He was holding hands with the cutest Pikachu I had ever seen. I knew he didn’t really like me. That jerk! I thought I don’t show up to our date and he doesn’t call me or talk to me and suddenly he’s with another girl! I hate him… My day still wasn’t going right. I got to Tokyo Manga and my boss threatened to fire me if I kept showing up late. We got into our meeting room and people pitched the stupidest ideas for a manga I had ever heard. One was called “Random Adventures!” and it was a book filled with random characters and random adventures. He liked it! My boss liked it better than mine. My idea was about a girl who is captured by giant eagles and she was granted like eagle wings or something and she was supposed to save them. Boss hated my idea and threatened to fire me again. He’s usually interested in my ideas but whatever I’ll try again tomorrow. I felt terrible nothing had worked out right. I passed by Katashi again but this sight was better than the last. He was sitting under a tree next to the Pikachu but then an Espeon walked over. She started yelling at him and apparently he never showed up at their date. A small crying eevee ran over “Big bwother you were gonna take me to get ice cweam!” it cried. The Pikachu then got angry at him. I decided to keep on walking I didn’t want to get involved. I feel bad for him but he deserves it. I just hope they don’t slap him too hard. I laughed and headed back home. My parents were back and were very upset because I was home an hour late. They gave me a lecture and finally let me go to sleep. I bumped my head on the cabinet while trying to refill the soap in the bathroom. I was out of toothpaste so I couldn’t brush my teeth. I went to bed and my whole body hurt. I was hoping tomorrow would be better but who knows.
That’s my story. Thanks for listening to me complain whether you really are listening or not…
